Jeremy, You're pretty darn sneaky, and nobody sees you for sure. But when you duck out of sight, you step on a loose board wedged under one of the piles. It shifts the pile just slightly and you snake past it, but 30 seconds later it makes a major shift and you hear a crash around the corner. You're well enough hidden, but you can hear Brace Win calling for Kettle to come inspect the place, his suspicion aroused.
Francis, from your position you hear the crash and the gang breaks out in murmurs. They're calling for Kettle, but he's lagged back, just outside of the dunes close to you, hoping to keep out of harms way. He's maybe 10 feet from you, below your vantage point on the other side of the dune, with his back turned to you. You can see him struggling, mumbling to himself.
"Fuck, I bet that fucker rigged up some fucking trap in that junkyard," he mumbles. "Fucking gang will beat the shit out of me if I don't go in there, though. Fuck! What do I do?" The gang hasn't spotted him lingering half in shadows back here just yet.
What do you do?

Kettle picks up his courage and emerges from the shadow, acknowledging his crew's call. Then his frame stiffens after a short pop. Then a obscene red splotch appears on his forehead after a second pop. Bruce and the rest recoil as Kettle's body falls to the ground. In a panicked search for cover they abandon caution and pile through the hole in the fence.

The group of them start to pile into the hole. "It's and Ambush!" cries Brace. "Everyone take cover!"
As they pile in, a flurry of twangs snaps and groans screech across the black dusty landscape as the snares and cages fall into place. Francis, you can see that the boxspring poised over the hole has crushed one of the boys, his torso caught in the broken links and his guts spilled asunder. There's one more of them who was fortunate enough to be outside the gate when the trap sprung, and he bolts south, back toward the Wastes.
Jeremy, you peek out from the area where you've set up your AV equipment. You can see 4 of the guys dangling upside down from snares, so that's good. Stuck between the two box springs, you can see 5 more guys, plus one demolished, halfway through the hole. Fuck, man. You don't see Brace Win in there, he must have slipped through! You hear him tearing through the junk on the other side of the yard. "WHERE ARE YOU, YA LITTLE FUCKER?!" He screams.
What do you do?

"Damn I wish I had time to find my pistol," Jeremy thinks. "This thing had better do something worthwhile or I'm fucked!" He hurries over to the AV equipment - as quickly yet quietly as possible - to turn it on.

errr, no, you already acted to get to your equipment, it's where you are now. Turning it on would count as augur, methinks, which would be a weird roll: no advance. Or you can try to sneak somewhere to get the upper ground on Brace, that would be under fire for sure. Also, the situation is fully charged if you'd like to read it. In any event, I think a re-roll is called for. There's no immediate danger for turning on the machine.

How far away are me and Jimmy from the hole? Assuming we are remaining behind cover.

Francis calls over the Jimmy behind the other dune, "Don't let anybody come out of that hole."
Francis then proceeds to move carefully around perimeter of the fence with his weapon poised to fire. He is looking for a bead on Brace Win rampaging on the inside of the junkyard.
